Last week, I invited you to explore whether Schema Coaching could be a helpful approach for you or your team.

Included was a couple of tools - self assessments, designed to help you identify specific workplace patterns of behaviour and thinking that may be obstacles - which Schema Coaching can help to solve.

If you took the self-assessment or team-focused version—brilliant! I truly hope it provided some insight and clarify to commonly seen obstacles to performance

However, completing this ‘screening’ about you or someone you know is one thing, but it might’ve left you with more questions than answers.

Like… what now?

So I thought it’d be useful to briefly look at the results, and consider some possible solutions.

Let’s look at a fictionalised (but very real) example of what can happen after someone completes the assessment:

Jenna, a project manager in a tech firm, was brilliant—but breaking. Her score clearly pointed to entrenched patterns of self-criticism, emotional exhaustion, and a constant fear of being “found out.” Jenna completed the Schema Coaching Self Assessment, and this really hit home.

What next?

Okay, so what could Jenna do next? As detailed in her reflections (Jenna Schema Coaching Assessment - for Individuals.), Jenna, having gained some insights from from her self assessment now has a few options to keep the ball rolling:

After establishing why Schema Coaching would be beneficial, Jenna and the coach would work together to:

• Understand the problem in greater detail.

• Define Jenna's desired outcome (e.g., calmer, less stressed about the small stuff).

This would including identifying barriers to success, understanding Jenna’s behavioural patterns and identifying her schemas (deep-seated beliefs).

Jenna would leave each session with an agreement on small steps forward, and a concrete plan that includes Schema tools and techniques.

Making sense of your own results

Hopefully you’ve realised your assessment results aren’t about “good” or “bad.” They’re about patterns—long-held ways of coping, relating, and working. Schema Coaching helps you unpack those patterns and shift the ones that are no longer serving you.

Some people are ready to dive into coaching right away. Others need time to reflect or just want to talk it through. Fine by me.

So What's Next?

Ah, well I didn’t quite live up to last week’s promise of diving into early days of Schema Coaching (how I intended anyway)…
